When you write and publish a book that is made available to the book-buying public, by all measures, you are “officially” a published author. However, after completing this rigorous process, I now believe there are a few subtle but distinct differences between being an author and being a writer.
I am an inferior writer by most professional and technical standards—a fact I respectfully accept with no future aspiration. Grammatically and laconically challenged, but somehow making a brief appearance on the stage of publication. In awe of a singular achievement, expected and replicated without hesitation by those uniquely talented individuals called “Writers.”
I believe I fit more comfortably into a small but emerging category. Ordinary souls compelled to share personal life experiences, challenges, and lessons. Not as dedicated practitioners of a sacred time-honored, consuming, and honed craft, but as reflective scribes, humbled couriers of hope and inspiration.
