There is substantial corroborative truth in the adage “You are the company you keep.”  Consequently, it is prudent to pick the herds you travel with carefully.  They are an inextricable part of your character and your legacy.

I believe it is wise to periodically break away from the pack. Temporarily secede.  To be alone, to be reflective, and to be critical of ourselves.  Use those precious moments to gain deeper insights into your why, what, and how. After all, understanding yourself is the key to being authentic with and around others.

Learn to leverage strengths and embrace development opportunities. Self-awareness is the linchpin to personal evolution.  It is completely within our control but often one of the most difficult character attributes to internalize and fully embrace.  Collectively, our life experiences, lessons, and challenges build our core infrastructure. It is what makes us stand firmly or timidly during times of adversity. It’s what makes you, YOU.

Always remember, our aspirations do not require approval from others.  We evolve by periodically challenging and recalibrating our beliefs.  Find a “normal” that aligns with your moral compass and ensures forward progress.
