We are all born imperfect by design. Each of us is given a choice on if, how, where, and when to embrace change. One of the primary prerequisites for evolution is self-awareness. We must first acknowledge that different experiences and events shape our individual lives and perspectives. Fortunately, when merged, those disparate views can shed new and enlightening light on long-held beliefs.

The real challenge is learning to judge ourselves with a critical lens before judging others and being comfortable knowing that inherent human bias is intricately embedded into the roots of our original beliefs.

It is only in fleeting moments of self-deprecation that a different and more inclusive view of ourselves, others, and life in general, can emerge.  It’s a never-ending and rigorous calibration process capable of making us better today than we were yesterday.  It gives us and those we encounter along our journey hope for an evolutionary tomorrow.
